Postnatal Pilates in Oxford
Postnatal Pilates in Oxford
At the Oxford studio Eglantine offers one to one or group postnatal classes to help women recover from their delivery.
Whether you have had a C-section or a natural birth your body has been through some big physiological changes with pregnancy, labour or surgery. Each woman will start this process in their own time, when they feel ready and the duration of the recovery will be different for each of them.
For postnatal Pilates it is important to work on posture and recentring as well as core and pelvic floor strengthening. After birth, the new mother’s centre of gravity has changed and new daily activities with repetitive motions such as carrying, lifting, feeding and pushing the buggy are putting a strain on the body. Postnatal Pilates will focus on building up strength to support mothers through this phase and help with conditions such as diastasis recti, pelvic floor weakness or incontinence.
At the start of the Postnatal Pilates course, it is important to go back to basics and make sure the mothers have good control before progressing. It is crucial not to run before you walk during this phase to avoid setbacks.
This is a great opportunity for mothers to reconnect with their body in a safe and friendly environment.
