Pregnancy Osteopathy in Oxford
Osteopathy for Pregnancy in Oxford
Pregnancy can be an exciting time as well as scary and tiring!
During pregnancy the woman’s body will go through many physical, physiological and emotional changes and support at this time is crucial. Pregnancy does not have to be painful and osteopathy can help relieve the aches and pains.
As the baby grows the weight of the mother changes and the centre of gravity shifts forward. For this to happen certain muscles have to stretch but others have to work harder. With the hormone relaxin streaming through the body, ligaments are loosening to allow the pelvis to widen to accommodate the growing baby. This can sometimes be a source of pain for the mothers to be and osteopaths can help rebalance the body smoothly.
Osteopathy can guide the pregnant woman through the different stages of pregnancy as each trimester brings new needs and demands. Advice on exercises, posture, sleeping positions and also preparation for the post-partum phase will be given.
Eglantine’s Pilates training provides a well-rounded patient management, being able to prescribe certain exercises at different stages of pregnancy to best support the changes and also prepare for birth.
